Live Music, Foodie tastings and Judging of The Tetbury Taters at The Priory Inn London Road Tetbury
Celebrating the best of local beers and ciders and customers will be able to sample 6 quarter pints in one tempting hit using tasting paddles: designed and hand-carved by the exceptional Alan Preece, a localquality furniture maker.
The Priory Inn is combining forces with Native Breeds – a small family run charcuterie. They are unique making cured, smoked, air dried and cooked charcuterie from Britain’s native and rare breed animals. “...committed to making truly crafted delicacies that pay respect to the culinary and agricultural heritage ……. and honour charcuterie traditions that have migrated through history into modern gastronomy.”
Graham Waddingto, artisan charcutier will be setting up traditional hot-dog stand showing Tetbury how fabulous a REAL hot dog can taste if it is made with care and great local ingredients. The classic smoked ‘Weiner’ (Viennese sausage) is a blend of British rose veal and native breed pork and beef, all smoked over beech and apple wood. The meat, herbs and spices are combined to produce the frankfurter’s characteristic silky smooth texture – meaning no stabilisers or emulsifiers are needed.
Music-wise, The Priory Inn is planning some great sets of live music that will entertain the whole family throughout the day.

Whatley Manor and Calcot continue to be involved as do Highgrove along with our very own special Cotswold Chef Rob Rees MBE
As always, the Farmers Style Market on the Sunday 23rd proves to be a favourite event with followers old and new – Each year the number of stalls grow offering produce as far ranging as jams and chutneys to herbs and spices, vegetables to wines and beers, olives to cheese and biscuits, and pies to cakes and cookies. Some of the new suppliers this year include: Native Breeds Curers and Charcutiers, Wiltshire Chilli Farm and Eleon Fine Foods - which together with staunch favourites such as Alderley Water, Angel Bakery, Sherston Tea and Pie Minister – to name just a few - promises a tasty treat for all visitors. Tom Herbert – he of Hobbs House Bakery and Fabulous Baker Boys fame will be there with an amazing array of breads and he will be happy to tell you all about them.
A first for this years’ Festival Market, will be a comprehensive Children’s area with shows, face painting, crafts and competition announcements; working closely with local schools before and during the event to ensure younger community members really can get involved and parents can come along safe in the knowledge they can leave their children in the care of professional, qualified entertainers.
Together with local chefs coming along to the Market is author, chef and Columnist Xanthe Clay. As well as demonstrating her cooking prowess she will be signing copies of her latest book “The Contented Chef” which is all about the enjoyment of food and cooking. For her there is nothing better than taking a simple ingredient or two and letting their natural flavours shine through. Not about complicated recipes or the latest gadgets, this is cooking purely for pleasure and using seasonal produce to its best potential.
Events during the Festival will include a special Vegetarian evening at Café 53 – hosted by co-owner of “The Pink Cab” Tina Stevenson - she will be working with Chef Pyot to ensure diners enjoy a tasty meal in an intimate setting; Local Wine Suppliers Vinotopia will be holding a tasting evening at their Barn just outside Tetbury in Long Newnton; The Priory Inn will play host to The Judging of the Tetbury Taters Competition on Sat 22nd with a traditional Brass Band and selection of tasty platters; There will be a chance to visit nearby Duchy Home Farm and they have promised to come along on the Sunday with their Vegetable Cart drawn by one or more of their amazing Shire Horses.
