Real Ale and Cider at The Priory Inn

On Saturday 22nd September, between 12 – 5pm The Priory Inn will host a very special Real Ale and Cider Day as part of The Tetbury Food and Drink festival with live music under gazebos in the front garden.

A great selection of ales and ciders will celebrate the best of local beers and ciders and customers will be able to sample 6 quarter pints in one tempting hit using the Priory Inn's tasting paddles: designed and hand-carved by the exceptional Alan Preece, a local high quality furniture maker.  He sourced the oak from within Gloucestershire and designed the tasting paddles to be not too heavy or long, with clean holes and full of individual character. The resulting paddles are a charismatic addition to The Priory Inn's Real Ale and Cider Day and will be enjoyed by many customers.

The Priory Inn is combining forces for the Real Ale and Cider celebration with Native Breeds – a small family run charcuterie based on the Lydney Park Estate in Gloucestershire. They are unique curers and charcutiers making cured, smoked, air dried and cooked charcuterie from Britain’s native and rare breed animals. “...committed to making truly crafted delicacies that pay respect to the culinary and agricultural heritage of Gloucestershire, the Marches and the South West, and honour charcuterie traditions that have migrated through history from Britain and Europe into modern gastronomy.” nativebreeds.co.uk

Graham Waddington the artisan charcutier will be setting up his traditional hot-dog stand for the day and showing Tetbury how fabulous a REAL hot dog can taste if it is made with care and great local ingredients.  The classic smoked ‘Weiner’ (Viennese sausage) is a blend of British rose veal and native breed pork and beef, all smoked over beech and apple wood. The meat, herbs and spices are combined into a machine known as a bowl cutter which produces the frankfurter’s characteristic silky smooth texture – meaning no stabilisers or emulsifiers are needed.

Music-wise, The Priory Inn is planning some great sets of live music that will entertain the whole family throughout the day, so watch this space for more news!
